How do NFC patches work?

Near-field communication (NFC) technology allows two devices to communicate wirelessly. The technology can be embedded in a small tag to facilitate data transfer between nearby mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and other electronics.

We have embedded these into custom name patches. Primarily they are there to identify someone by name, but in case of emergency, critical information about the individual can be obtained by tapping their name patch with your phone*

What phones can scan?”

iPhones with NFC:

• All iPhones from iPhone 7 (2016) and later have built-in NFC readers.

• This includes:

  • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus

  • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus

  • iPhone X, XR, XS, XS Max

  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max

  • iPhone 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max

  • iPhone 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max

  • iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max

  • iPhone 15 series and newer

Android Phones with NFC:

• Most modern Android smartphones released since around 2015 include NFC.

• Common brands and models with NFC include:

  • Samsung Galaxy series (e.g., S6 and later, Note 5 and later, A series mid-to-high models)

  • Google Pixel series (Pixel 1 and newer)

  • OnePlus phones (OnePlus 3 and newer)

  • Sony Xperia models (most recent models)

  • LG smartphones (selected models from 2015 onwards)

  • Huawei phones (many mid-to-high range models)

  • Xiaomi phones (selected models including Mi and Redmi Note series)

  • Motorola phones (many Moto G and E series models with NFC)
